The Chair has been announced for the 100% Fish for Profit Conference taking place alongside the Icelandic Fisheries & Aquaculture Exhibition (IceFish) on 23 and 24 September 2026.
Thor Sigfusson, Founder and Chairman of the Icelandic Ocean Cluster (IOC) will preside over a gathering of expert international speakers who will provide attendees with valuable knowledge on how to maximise their return on investment from potentially discarded parts of the catch. IOC CEO, Dr Alexandra Leeper will take on the role of Deputy chair and moderator.
Formerly known as Fish Waste for Profit, the conference is a popular, must‑attend event for those seeking the latest industry insights, practical solutions, and opportunities to build relationships with key stakeholders.
Thor Sigfusson is an Icelandic entrepreneur, author and speaker.
He has been a global advocate for the 100% fish utilization mission and the development of seafood clusters, with the Iceland Ocean Cluster now having co-founded eleven sister ocean clusters worldwide.
Thor is the author of nine books spanning zero waste, international business, knowledge networks, and salmon. His most recent titles include The New Fish Wave - Igniting the Seafood Industry and 100% Fish, both published by Leete’s Island Books.
Alexandra Leeper works at the intersection of seafood, circular economy and industrial infrastructure, helping companies and regions redesign how they use their resources so that value is created rather than wasted.
Based in Iceland, she is CEO of the Iceland Ocean Cluster, an innovation community bringing the blue economy together so good ideas can thrive. Iceland has pioneered the 100% Fish model, a globally referenced case for full-value utilization in seafood and is now supporting the adaptation and transfer of this model around the world along with a growing ecosystem of Global Sister Ocean Clusters.
The Iceland Ocean Cluster is now fundraising for the venture fund, Blue Nova Ventures, and Alexandra acts as the Global Ecosystem Lead, connecting the international community of blue entrepreneurs.
Alexandra has a PhD in sustainable aquaculture and the circular economy, a master's in marine Environment and Resources, and bachelor's in marine biology and Oceanography.
