KJ-Hydraulic joins the growing number of companies exhibiting in the Faroese Pavilion at this year’s IceFish, being held from 22-24 September.
The company are experts in hydraulics and machinery, supplying and servicing equipment for the fishing and aquaculture industries. As one of the bigger machinery companies in the Faroe Islands, KJ-Hydraulic also supplies equipment and services to international markets, including Iceland, Scotland, Shetland, Denmark and Norway.
A vital supplier to the Faroese fishing fleet for several years, KJ-Hydraulic has its headquarters in Kambsdalur, departments in Tórshavn, Ljósá and Fuglafjørður and a sister company in Denmark, KJ Supply.
KJ-Hydraulic is at the forefront of aquaculture equipment and services, supplying catamarans, farming pens, current breakers, slaughter cages and services for smolt hatcheries.
Recently the company signed an agreement with Bakkafrost for a new catamaran, which will enhance Bakkafrost’s operational capabilities in the aquaculture industries. The vessel is the 66th catamaran constructed by KJ-Hydraulic, and the 36th catamaran in its comprehensive portfolio of catamarans built for Bakkafrost.
Commenting on the evolving trends in the Faroese aquaculture industry, Viggo Johannesen, the CEO at KJ-Hydraulic, says, “there has been a positive progression over the years, leading to a demand for larger service vessels at sea-based farming sites. The necessity for more expansive deck space and larger deck cranes means that we must also provide larger catamarans. Currently, our largest model is 20×9 meters,”.
