Icelandic company, Trefjar was founded in 1978 and has remained a family-owned business since its inception.
In the early years the company focused on producing fish farming tubs, which quickly became its core business. During the 1980s and 1990s, as the local fish farming industry grew, Trefjar built thousands of tanks, becoming a trusted partner for many local fish farming companies.
As the demand for fish farming tanks declined, the company adapted by venturing into boat building. Initially developing the small Skel range, followed by the iconic Cleopatra boats. Since 1990, Trefjar has crafted around 500 custom-built boats in various sizes, tailored to meet the unique needs of customers.
A few years ago, Trefjar expanded its operations by acquiring Stálorka, a steel manufacturing company specializing in stainless steel, steel, and aluminum production. This acquisition further strengthened its capabilities, allowing the company to provide a broader range of products and services.
Now that things are scaling up in fish farming, Trefjar has utilized its experience and are placing greater focus on aquaculture production.
